About Rev. Derrel
Rev. Derrel Evins, Associate Pastor of Hope Global Methodist Church of Rockwall County, was born and raised in West Texas. He felt the call to ministry as a teenager ad answered that call years later, while driving to work, the Holy Spirit filled his vehicle and proclaimed “It’s time.” He earned a Bachelor’s degree from West Texas A & M University (Canyon, Tx) and was ordained as Deacon before moving to Wilmore, Kentucky, where he graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary. Derrel was then appointed to the New Mexico Conference where he was ordained Elder. Four years later he was transferred to the Northwest Texas Conference.
While serving local churches, Derrel also worked in various positions at the Conference level. He was a member of the Commission on Insurance (NWTC), he chaired the Big Spring District Bord of Organed Ministries (NWTC), and served as a Hospital Chaplain (NWTC). He helped plan and participated in Youth Camps for both Conferences.
Derrel partnered with school/communities to mentor children and youth including Go the Distance (5th graders) and Men of Honor (Jr. High boys). He worked many Walks to Emmaus and loved participating in the local Ministerial Alliances to bring communities together in worship and service.
Derrel and Brenda, his wife of 54 years, are currently serving in the Mid-Texas Conference of the Global Methodist Church at Hope Global Methodist Church in Rockwall County.
